Our Facilities

The Professional Learning Institute (PLI) offers multiple learning spaces for use by the Department of Education (DoE). Our learning spaces are ideal for delivery of professional learning, special events, meeting and conference calls. When our learning spaces are not being used for professional learning, they are available to State Government agencies, Professional Associations with DoE membership and in some cases external organisations (refer to PLI guidelines for use of the PLI). For all booking enquiries please contact PLI@education.tas.gov.au.

Catering is provided by 4lunch who are located on site. The PLI is conveniently located and offers ample free parking as shown in the video below.

Learning Space 1

Learning Space 1 can comfortably seat 15 people cabaret style and is often used as a boardroom for conference calls, or for smaller groups. It has its own PC and two 55 inch screens. Presenters have the option to use their own device, connected via HDMI/VGA or via a Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter.

Learning Space 2

Learning Space 2 is our flagship area which features two projectors and a lectern with a built in PC. This room can seat 45 people cabaret style, with the option to expand by opening our partition doors into Learning Space 1 or Learning Space 3. Presenters have the option to use their own device, connected via HDMI/VGA or via a Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter.

Learning Space 3

Learning Space 3 features one 75 inch and two 55 inch screens and can seat 36 people cabaret style. It contains its own PC and a ceiling mic positioned in the center of the room, which allows for presenting using Skype. Presenters have the option to use their own device, connected via HDMI/VGA or via a Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter.

Learning Space 4

Learning Space 4 features one 75 inch, three 65 inch and two 55 inch screens and can seat 36 people cabaret style. It contains its own PC and a ceiling mic positioned in the center of the room which allows for presenting using Skype. Presenters have the option to use their own device, connected via HDMI/VGA or via a Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter.

Learning Spaces 1, 2 & 3 Combined

Learning Space 1 and 2 combined creates enough space to seat 75 people cabaret style. Learning Space 2 and 3 combined can seat 90 people cabaret style. With all three Learning Spaces (1, 2 & 3) combined can seat up to 120 people cabaret style.

Skype Room

Our Skype room was created to provide a streamlined experience for conference calls. This is achieved through the use of our 55 inch Microsoft Surface Hub which allows participants/presenters to enter a scheduled Skype call in one click. The Skype room provides a quiet environment and can seat up to 6 people.

Sign In

Our user friendly kiosks makes it quick and easy for visitors and participants to check in and out of the PLI facility. Once individuals check in, our kiosks generate sticky name labels that can be worn.

Courtyard

Sit in our courtyard and enjoy your morning tea, lunch or afternoon tea. Break out of our Learning Spaces and work collaboratively outdoors using our bean bags, benches or outdoor tables, groups are welcome to use the courtyard space for professional learning activities.

To support our environmentally friendly approach, please remember to bring along your keep-cup and water bottle for our complimentary tea / coffee making facilities (featuring our nespresso machines) and filtered water stations. Enjoy your breaks in our comfortable dining area while you network with other participants.
