Metacognition in the H&PE Classroom Prep – Year 10

1 Day Program

back to Programs

Would you like your students to be able to think about their thinking? Metacognitive thinking empowers students to become more active in their own learning. How can we support our students to be metacognitive learners in H&PE? How do the five propositions of the AC: H&PE support metacognition?

This program focuses on implementing practical strategies to teach metacognition in the H&PE classroom. The program will support teachers to ‘intentionally develop metacognition in learners’ (Learners First: A Pedagogical Framework).

As a result of engaging in this course, participants will:

  • know what metacognition is and how it can support learning
  • understand how metacognition develops and can be integrated in H&PE
  • be able to intentionally and explicitly teach metacognitive strategies
