Program Description

Successful schools continually work to develop a culture of student, teacher and leadership learning success. Cognitive CoachingSM is integral to this.

The Cognitive Coaching Foundation Seminar® equips participants with a set of strategies, a way of thinking and a way of working that invites self and others to shape and reshape their thinking and problem-solving capabilities to achieve learning success.

The Cognitive CoachingSM methodology promotes a culture that values the development of thoughtful teaching and leadership practices. It is designed to produce self-directed persons with the dispositions for continuous life-long learning.

This professional learning program caters for educators and leaders at all levels and builds the knowledge, skills and capabilities for successful coaching and leadership in schools.

Program Outcomes

Participants will develop:

  • Understanding of the essence of Cognitive CoachingSM
  • Increased interpersonal communication skills to develop trust and rapport
  • Understanding of the power of a structured professional conversation
  • Understanding Cognitive CoachingSM as one of four support functions and an awareness of how to navigate support functions
  • Understanding of four capabilities for refining coaching skills
  • Understanding of the Planning and Reflecting Conversation Maps
  • Increased consciousness and skills in asking mediative questions
  • Understanding of the role of data in mediating thinking
