Creative Pedagogies for Language and Literacy Development

This professional learning program is for teachers and teacher assistants (TA) working in schools with significant populations of students with English as an Additional language or students with emerging literacy skills. Creative Pedagogies will be explored that develop students’ literacy skills through story, imagination and embodiment. Collaboration between learners will be emphasised to improve their reading, writing, speaking and listening skills. This program aims to equip teachers with the skills and knowledge to make the EAL/D and literacy classroom highly engaging and innovative. Participants will be introduced to new research on translanguaging, language acquisition and creative literacy pedagogies. The program will discuss ways to make classrooms more inclusive and build connections in the learning environment across cultures.
