Metacognition in the English Classroom Years 7 – 10

1 Day Program

back to Programs

Would you like your students to be able to think about their thinking? Metacognitive thinking empowers students to become more active in their own learning. How can we support our students to be metacognitive learners in the English learning area?

This program focuses on implementing practical strategies to teach metacognition in the secondary English classroom. The workshop will support teachers to ‘intentionally develop metacognition in learners’ (Learners First: A Pedagogical Framework).

As a result of engaging in this course, participants will:

  • know what metacognition is and how it can support learning
  • understand how metacognition develops and can be integrated in secondary
  • be able to intentionally and explicitly teach metacognitive strategies.
