Pedagogy of Place

1 Day Program

back to Programs

Place is full of significance which is characterised by an acceptance that we simply belong to, and identify with it. Place is our home. Teaching programs incorporating an exploration and connection with place inspires and supports all learners to succeed as connected, resilient, creative and curious thinkers. This one-day program is suitable for teachers at all career stages and is particularly relevant for early career teachers in their second to fourth year of teaching. The place-based experiential program will prepare teachers to support learners’ connection to place, and plan for and implement outdoor learning using the Australian Curriculum, the Pedagogical Framework, and the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers. The concept of place-based learning highlights the special connection to Country/Place by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples and celebrates the unique belief systems that connect people physically and spiritually to Country/Place.
