‘Maths is found everywhere and for everyone’, presented by Eddie Woo

back to Programs

Have you ever wondered why a rainbow is curved? Or why left-handers aren’t extinct?

‘Maths is everywhere and for everyone’ is a professional learning session presented by Eddie Woo, the Australian secondary school teacher best known for his online mathematics lessons and recipient of Australia’s Local Hero Award in 2018.

Eddie was just another anonymous maths teacher until the day he decided to set up a camera in his classroom to film his lessons for a seriously ill student. He posted the videos on YouTube and, to his surprise, their popularity grew exponentially. His free WooTube channel now boasts more than 200,000 subscribers from all around the world, and the videos have been watched more than 12 million times.

Eddie is committed to equipping teachers with new ideas and practices to help enliven the way they teach and to engage students in their learning.

This one hour session is open to all teachers and will be offered face to face at the PLI and online via skype.

Participants will learn about the power of education and be inspired by Eddie’s innovation and dynamism to enliven their classrooms and motivate their students.
