Program Description:

This face- to-face workshop will focus on gross motor development – here’s what, so what, now what?

The morning session presented by Lewina Schrale and Tanikah Ferguson (Paediatric Physiotherapists) provides practical knowledge and information about key developmental gross motor markers and builds on information provided in the Canvas Gross Motor Development 2-5 Years Training Package for Educators. The afternoon session will provide the opportunity for you to use this information to further explore the pedagogy and planning of your gross motor program.
The exciting new “Understanding and Supporting Child Development” and “Gross Motor Activity Cards” resources will be distributed as part of this session (subject to production time frames).

Program Outcomes:

Participants will deepen their understanding of:

  • The typical sequence of physical development for 3- to 5-year-olds
  • Practical ideas, and strategies to support and promote the development of gross motor skills
  • How to plan a gross motor program
  • The available resources
