Program Description

When schools and CFLC’s work in partnership with families, learner outcomes improve. This multi-day online course will support participants to build their own, and other staff capability, to use family engagement strategies and build them into ways of working. This program is specifically designed to focus on children and their families from Birth to Year 6, as it recognises strategies for engaging with families shifts as children become older. It is strongly encouraged that at least two representatives from a school or CFLC participate in this program, including a member of the leadership team.

Program Outcomes

This online professional learning sessions will build participants’ understanding of:

  • Why partnering with families matters
  • Why families engage (or not) in their child’s learning in Birth to Year 6 contexts, and the role that staff play in this
  • The Dual Capacity Model
  • The neuroscience of partnering
  • Power and bias and the impact on partnering
  • Application of strategies to own settings
  • Barriers to family engagement in Birth to Year 6 contexts.

Participants will also have the opportunity to:

  • Share successes and progress, and collaborate with peers
  • Build skills in identifying what is hard and practicing how to address these issues directly
  • Re-design family engagement activities/strategies

Location, Date & Time

The 3-day sessions will take place online. Participants are required to attend all sessions

Term 2
