Transition is a big stage for students moving from primary into secondary education. As students adjust to their new school and classes their transition needs to be a positive experience, so that their wellbeing is maintained, and their learning is coherent and continuous. A positive transition for students will contribute to achieving the Department of Education’s strategic goal of ‘all students participating and engaging in learning and able to pursue life opportunities.’
A digital transition planning tool has been developed to support and enhance students transitioning from Year 6 into Year 7. Through the Digital Transition Plan schools will have access to student transition information in a timely manner so that it can inform the strengths of the student cohort, learning interests, intended destinations, career interests, and school interests, for the following year; and to support every student in making a positive and informative transition that encompasses this process.
Through participation in the session, teachers and school leaders will:
- have an overview of the Digital Transition Plan platform
- explore resources to support transition in your school
- build ICT capability in the use of the Canvas Learning Management System
