Program Description

Following the release the DoE Phonics Scope and Sequence this professional learning will support Prep-Year 2 teachers to build their professional content and pedagogical knowledge in the area of early reading and writing including:

  • phonological and phonemic awareness
  • concepts of print and the alphabetic principle
  • grapho-phonic relationships
  • explicit teaching of the phonics component of reading and writing.
Program Outcomes

The Lead Quality Teaching Coaches – Literacy will engage participants to:

  • increase their pedagogical content knowledge
  • become proficient in using the scope and sequence
  • build curriculum knowledge and understand the progression of learning in phonics
