Program Description

The Explore Sea Country resources have been designed for primary teachers to deliver a culturally rich unit of work aligned to the Australian Curriculum.

This authentic and practical resource supports learners to understand that Tasmanian Aboriginal people have been sustainably using and managing their Sea Country for thousands of years and that Aboriginal communities maintain a special connection to, and responsibility for all Country.

Program Outcomes

Participants will:

  • Know where and how to access Explore Sea Country resources and support
  • Understand the importance of providing opportunities for students to develop understanding of and respect for local Aboriginal history and culture
  • Become confident to implement Explore Sea Country using effective teaching strategies responsive to the local Aboriginal community and cultural setting
