Program Description

Years 9–12 Learning will be delivering a spaced program of professional learning to support teachers intending to deliver newly accredited senior secondary courses in 2023.

The program is being delivered across 3 sessions, with a session held in each term.

Teachers will register for the same course(s) for all sessions.

During this program participants will have the opportunity to engage in unpacking and understanding:

  • the course document and focus area
  • course content and assessment
  • pedagogy, teaching and learning for implementation.

Program sequence:

  • Term 2:  course document and focus area overview
  • Term 3:  content and assessment
  • Term 4:  pedagogy, teaching and learning for implementation

Key content in this program includes:

Term 2:  

  • Structure and features of the course document
  • Overview of Key knowledge and skills
  • Focus Area implications
  • Overview of work requirements and assessment
  • On-going supports (baseline resources and Communities of Practice)

Term 3: 

  • Exploring content detail and resource requirements
  • Exploring criteria, criterion elements and standards
  • Work requirements
  • Tasks and task design
  • Formative and summative assessment
  • Baseline Resources: unpacking the sample scope and sequence and course implementation guide

Term 4: 

  • Focus area pedagogy
  • Teaching and learning strategies
  • Implementation in schools
  • Sharing of strategies
  • Baseline resources: exploring the Canvas module
  • Ongoing support
Program Outcomes

Participants will further develop knowledge, expertise and capabilities aligned with the Australian Professional Standards for teachers in Professional Engagement through:

  • 6.2 Engage in professional learning and improve practice
  • 6.3 Engage with colleagues and improve practice
  • 7.4 Engage with professional teaching networks and broader communities

Cost:

  • DoE Tasmania – no charge
  • Non-DoE – The Term 4 implementation sessions will attract a small fee for non-govt schools. The fees payable for Term 4 sessions are: $75.00 half day, $150.00 full day. Schools will be invoiced at the close of registrations.
Location, Date & Time

Term 2: 

  • Online statewide sessions
  • Time: 3:30 pm to 4:30 pm
  • Tuesday 14 June to Thursday 23 June
  • Each course will be conducted on a specific date – refer to schedule

Term 3:

  • Online statewide sessions
  • Time: 3:30 pm to 4:30 pm
  • Monday 29 August to Thursday 8 September
  • Each course will be conducted on a specific date – refer to schedule

Term 4: 

  • Face-to-face meetings
  • Monday 5 December and Tuesday 6 December – Launceston region (north/north-west)
  • Wednesday 7 December and Thursday 8 December – Hobart region (southern)
  • More information will be provided to registered participants closer to the time
