An Induction program targeted towards Early Career Teachers
The Department for Education, Children and Young People invites early career teachers to attend a Welcome to the Profession Day (Welcome Day) prior to the start of the 2023 school year.
The Welcome Day will provide participants with an overview of the Department, an understanding of practical support and resources available for teachers, the opportunity to learn from educators who have recently completed their first year in teaching, and access to professional networks.
The Welcome Day will support this important transition into the profession by:
- Introducing practical resources and supports available.
- Providing the opportunity to build professional networks.
- Exploring practical strategies to support your well-being.
- Contributing to your sense of belonging, identity, and confidence.
- Providing the opportunity to learn from teachers who have recently completed their first year.
Welcome Days will be held in Burnie, Launceston and Hobart from 31 January – 2 February 2023.
Participation is voluntary. Morning tea and lunch will be provided.

Participants in this program will:
- Deepen knowledge and understanding of the Department for Education Children and Young People
- Understand the support and resources available for early career teachers
- Build a professional learning network with other early career teachers and the wider DECYP community
Teachers
- Standard 3 – Plan for and implement effective teaching and learning
- Standard 6 – Engage in professional learning
- Standard 7 – Engage professionally with colleagues, parents/carers and the community
This 1-day program will be held face-to-face from 8:45 am – 2:00 pm.
