Since the PLI’s launch in 2012, the key focus has been providing professional learning for educators and school leadership within the former Department of Education. Now, as the Department for Education, Children and Young People (DECYP), it’s recognised the scope needs to broaden and it’s time to rethink and reorganise how we best support users in finding relevant training and development opportunities across the department.
In early 2024 the DECYP Executive Board endorsed a program of work to deliver immediate improvements to the efficiency and uptake of training for DECYP staff, volunteers and external partners. A key part of this initiative is the redesign and rebranding of the PLI website into our new Training and Development Hub, which will serve as a central location for staff to find and enrol in DECYP training and development programs.
To meet this need, we will be retiring the current PLI website and launching the new Training and Development Hub on the DECYP public website (DECYP.tas.gov.au) likely by the end of the year.
The hub will provide—whether in Corporate, Schools, Libraries, Youth Justice, Children and Families, or external users—access to training opportunities across the department, with a focus initially on signposting to mandatory training. All existing programs on the current website will be available on the new hub, ensuring continuity of services, and the PLI physical location will continue to provide in-person training facilities and related services.
