This program delivered by UTAS is one unit of a Graduate Certificate in Leadership. It is suitable for emerging and experienced school and system leaders. Organisations everywhere now operate in an environment of rapid, on-going and disruptive change. Leaders play a key role managing such change, which can include system-wide and local reforms, restructuring and innovations. Often, many planned changes are not implemented in practice as originally conceived. This unit examines some of the forces of change and for change in society today, focusing in particular on both barriers and facilitators.
This UTAS unit is customised specifically for DoE employees. It is a Semester 1 unit (February- June 2022). It consists of:
- One online workshop day that covers the first four weeks of unit content
- Up to 9 weeks online content (reading and discussions) – approximately 2 hours per week of self-directed learning.
- Two written assignments:
Critical literature review (40% of the assessment mark)
Topic and Focus: Explore approaches to/theories of change and discuss key roles leaders could play to support
Written assignment paper (60% of the assessment mark)
Topic & Focus: Leading change in my organization: Analysing a change process in action.
